Architectural Lighting Design Book

Architectural Design Book. Light is the element that reveals architecture. It renders texture and materials, illuminates surfaces and spaces, it creates atmospheres. The Architecture of Light concentrates on visual data to provide a deeper understanding of the lighting decision-making process. Color diagrams, photographs, and renderings are used to educate readers about the controllable aspects of light. Light in Architecture is a suggestive and useful guide for those who are conscious of the main role natural light and artificial lighting play in architecture, landscape and interior design. Text, pictures, figures and drawings will guide
them through this essential aspect of contemporary design and architecture.

Architecture Design of Richard Meier

Philip Jodidio has contributed to Richard Meier as an author.PHILIP JODIDIO has published more than fifty books on architecture, including Architecture: Art, Architecture: Sculpture, Architecture: Nature an d Under the Eaves of Architecture. This complete monograph presents 89 of Meier's buildings, documenting the principal stages of Meier's career in chronological order, from his early private homes and residential buildings - such as the two large complexes of Twin Parks, Bronx, New York, and the Bronx Development Center - to recent major projects in the United States and in several European countries, including Italy. Among the well-known works in this volume are the Getty Center in Los Angeles, the Barcelona Museum of Contemporary Art, and the church of Dives in Misericordia, Rome. In the early 1970s, Meier was one of the "New York Five," an informal group of East Coast architects who shared a preference for new and original contributions to the modern tradition and shaped an alternative to the "gray" architecture that dominated highrise East Coast buildings at the time. This new title in the Modern Masters series is dedicated to the distinguished American architect, and includes an introductory essay by Kenneth Frampton, one of the most prestigious names in the field of architecture history.

Streets For Life: Inclusive Urban Design

Elizabeth Burton, Lynne Mitchell, "Inclusive Urban Design: Streets For Life". Part one examines the changing experiences of people in the outdoor environment as they age and discusses existing outdoor environments and the aspects and features that help or hinder older people from using and enjoying them. Part two presents the six design principles for streets for life and their many individual components.
Using photographs and line drawings, a range of design features are presented at all scales of the outdoor environment from street layouts and building form to signs and detail. Part three expands on the concept of streets for life as the ultimate goal of inclusive urban design. These are outdoor environments that people are able to confidently understand, navigate and use, regardless of age or circumstance, and represent truly sustainable inclusive communities.
This is the first book to address the design needs of older people in the outdoor environment. It provides information on design principles essential to built environment professionals who want to provide for all users of urban space and who wish to achieve sustainability in their designs.

book of Le Corbusier in Detail

Flora Samuel “Le Corbusier in Detail". Le Corbusier in Detail. It illustrates the ways in which Le Corbusier's details were expressive of his overall philosophical intentions. It is not a construction book in the usual sense- rather it focusses onthe meaning of detail, on the ways in which detail informs the overall architectural narrative of a building. Well illustrated and containing several specially prepared scaled drawings it acts as timely reminder to both students and architects of the possibilities inherent in the most small scale tectonic gestures.
